With the Advanced Positioning Sensor system, this wrist unit will ensure correct cuff placement, before your blood pressure is taken. Simply wrap the cuff around the wrist, press START, and let the A.P.S. system guide the cuff to the proper placement at heart level. In seconds, your blood pressure and pulse are displayed on the large digital panel.

Not only does the HEM-637 Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor utilize Omron's patented IntelliSense technology, but it also features the innovative Advanced Positioning Sensor (APS). With the APS system, this wrist unit will ensure correct cuff placement before your blood pressure is taken. The monitor is incredibly easy to use -- simply wrap the cuff around your wrist, press start, and let the APS system guide the cuff to the proper placement at heart level. In seconds, your blood pressure and pulse are displayed on the large digital screen. To take an accurate reading, first place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upwards.

Next, position the unit, leaving approximately 0.5-inches of space between the edge of the cuff and your palm.

When your wrist reaches the proper position in line with your heart, the monitor beeps and automatically starts.

Instructions for Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors
There are several easy steps to taking your blood pressure with this monitor. First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Stress raises blood pressure, so avoid taking measurements during stressful times. Also, measurements should be taken in a quiet place. You should be in a relaxed, seated position with your feet flat on the floor. Before you take your measurement, rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes. Place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upwards. Position the unit leaving approximately 0.5-inches of space between the edge of the cuff and your palm. Pull the cuff upward while holding the edge of the wrist cuff and wrap snugly. Make sure to lightly press the Velcro closure with your fingers so that it is fastened tightly.

Using your elbow as an axis point, slowly raise your left hand at an angle towards your right shoulder. Stop your movement when the heart mark is aligned with the arrow symbol. When your wrist reaches the proper position, the monitor beeps and automatically starts inflation and measurement. Hold your wrist at this position. Do not make any movements until the measurement results are displayed. Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate and your blood pressure and pulse rate will display on the screen. If you need to stop the measurement at any time, simply press the on/off button and the monitor will immediately deflate. And remember, always consult your physician for specific information about your blood pressure.

What is IntelliSense?
The IntelliSense monitor inflates the cuff to the ideal level with each use -- you never have to make any adjustments to select an inflation level. This is especially convenient for hypertensive users and for people with certain arrhythmia or heart disorders because their blood pressure is so likely to fluctuate. The biggest advantage of using the IntelliSense technology is a personalized inflation, every time, for maximum comfort.

This product is not always working as it advises. Some people can't get a reading for some reason. It seems that something isn't quite right. But, otherwise it is a good product. It seems accurate as well.

« Multiple issues with this item. »

This worked great for about 3 months. Now it won't even register 3/4 of the times that I use it. It doesn't seem to be made very well. I use it multiple times a day and it is very frustrating.
