Iron Gym is the multi function training bar that combines every exercise you need to build a powerful upper body. Its the ultimate body sculpting and strength building tool that helps shape the upper body and tones your midsection. The durable steel construction holds up to 300 lbs. It is designed to fit residential doorways 24" to 32" wide with doorway trim or molding up to 3 ½ inches wide.

Strengthen your back, biceps, and other upper body muscles in the comfort of your living room or dorm with the Iron Gym workout bar. Designed to fit conveniently in most doorway frames or sit on the floor for pushups, dips, and sit-ups, the Iron Gym is an ideal choice for people who want to get fit without buying expensive, space-intensive weight sets. When installed in the doorway, the device lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, with three grip positions--narrow, neutral, and wide--for working the inner and outer back. Once you're done with your back workout, you can quickly move the Iron Gym to the floor, where you can perform pushups while facing down, tricep dips while facing the other way, or sit-ups using the Iron Gym for foot stability.

The Iron Gym--whose durable steel frame installs quickly without tools or fasteners--holds up to 300 pounds and is designed to fit residential doorways 24 to 32 inches wide, with doorway trim or molding up to 3.5 inches wide.

« Old houses have different door jams »
This really seems like a great item but unfortunately we will never know because it just does not fit the way it is suppose to. Our house was built in the 20's. The door wars are all wood and quite wide. They are probably 2x the width of the ones today. I was totally unable to put it up on any door in the home. Its not that exciting as a floor workout. Anyone want to buy it from me?

« Would be fine... if only... »
I read most of the reviews on this product about doorway width but must have missed the one on frame thickness. Our house is 80 yrs old with very thick walls and door framework. The curvy bar was too shallow to fit around our woodwork. Our frames are 7 inches thick all told and the bar was too shallow for it. Very disappointing, since I was really looking forward to using this equipment. Other than that it seemed simple to put together and install, and sufficiently constructed.

« Yes, women can use it too »
I decided to buy this product after realizing that I didn't have as much upper body strength as I thought I did. My son suggested this Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar. I bought mine at Target the next day.

First of all the assembly was very simple. It took all of ten minutes for me to put it together and install it on my door frame. I live in a very old apartment and the door frame was wide enough for the bar, so there was no problem there. The hook that you use to hold the bar in place goes in between the frame and the wall and it doesn't look like it will damage the wall in any way.

The bar is very sturdy and I did not feel that it wouldn't support my weight. With that said let me now tell you about my first attempt to do a pull-up! Well, it didn't go very well at first, as I mentioned before, I don't have very much upper body strength and once I tried to do a pull-up, I realized just how bad off I was. I mean damn it was really pitiful trying to pull myself up and getting completely frustrated. I was so frustrated that I was thanking the gods that I had bought it locally and could take it back, but providence stepped in and saved the day!

I am not one to give up too easily, so I decided to do a search for how to do a pull-up and found the most amazing site called [...]. The video showed not only the proper way to to a pull-up but it showed me how to do a modified pull-up using a stool or what looked like an aerobic step and the Superbands exercise band. With these two accessories and watching the video, I am now able to do pull-ups with ease!

I just purchased the Perfect Pullup Heavy Duty Performance Series Ab Straps to go with the bar After I try them out, I will let you know how they work. Yes, the Iron Gym has it's own ab straps,Ab Straps for the Iron Gym Total Body Workout Bar but you have to order them separately and after reading both reviews, I decided to go with the Perfect Pullup straps. They are cheaper and they got better reviews.
